Dereck Blackburn
Dereck is a fantastic engineer and musician based in Boston, MA. He is also a composer, DIY audio enthusiast and a secretary at AES (audio engineering society). He runs a recording facility in his home called Quiethouse Recording.
Eddie Rivas
Eddie is the owner/operator of Total Annihilation Studios in Los Angeles, he has been a constant in the LA music scene for many decades now. We talk about opening his facility, recording and mixing techniques and business practices. We also discuss Distorted Pony, fantastic noise rock band from the late 80’s that in the last decade has reformed with Eddie on guitar.
Jack Shirley
Jack is the owner/head engineer at The Atomic Garden, San Francisco. He is a fantastic engineer that is behind every great hardcore punk record from the Bay Area since the early 2000’s. He was also the guitarist and songwriter in prolific punk band Comadre. We talk about his emergence as an engineer, the bay area DIY community, recording at 25th st in Oakland and working with Jeff Rosenstock.
Neil Thomason
Neil was the guitarist and vocalist of Ricaine, an amazing Melbourne band from the 90’s. He also founded Head Gap recording studio. We talk about the effect Fugazi and Shellac had on him as a young musician, starting a recording studio and weathering the storm of the home recording boom.
